PREVIEW: SYSTEMICS # 1

Friday January 11, 6 - 8p.m.

Join in at the celebration of the opening of the first exhibition of the Systemics Series.

With the exhibition Systemics # 1 Certain peculiar things and ideas, ofte failed (or, on humans, machines and running algorithms) Kunsthal Aarhus presents its exhibition programme Systemics Series. The exhibition explores the persistence of human inventions and its connection to machines of all kinds.

/ DIMIs Reconnected (2013), performance with Erkki Kurenniemi´s instruments with Tarek Atoui, Kai Lassfolk, Mikko Ojanen, Jari Suominen.
 
/ Poetry Reading with Glenn Christian
On the opening night there will be a reading by the Danish poet Glenn Christian, who will perform his three poems, which he has made to the exhibition: My friend Luigi!, Dear jh and Note. The poems are inspired by the three characters: Ada Lovelace, Jane Heap and Erkki Kurenniemi.

FREE GUIDET TOUR IN SYSTEMICS # 1

Saturday January 12, 1 p.m.
 
In order to reproduce the many stories and narratives that are part of the exhibition Systemics # 1 Certain peculiar things and ideas, ofte failed (or, on humans, machines, and running algorithms), Kunsthal Aarhus has invited editor Mathias Kokholm as a special tour guide.

In the tour Mathias Kokholm takes the visitors through the exhibitions on their own terms and opens up new possible stories and threads that go both deep into as well as beyond the artistic field.

PANEL DISCUSSION

Saturday January 12, 2p.m.

Experience a conversation between Artistic Director, Joasia Krysa, curator Perttu Rastas from Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art and the Danish artist Lea Porsager about three characters in Systemics # 1: Ada Lovelace (1815-1852), English mathematician and author, Jane Heap (1883-1964), American publisher of avant-garde literature, and Erkki Kurenniemi (1941 -), Finnish artist and inventor, who together form a part of the past two centuries´ stories about creativity and technology.
