Århus Kunstbygning is an exhibition space for contemporary art that challenges the public with new and experimental work by artists from Denmark and abroad. We go to the edge with expressive idioms in transition and set an agenda in contemporary art.

THEME OF 2012: EGO?
With the interrogative title EGO? Århus Kunstbygning wants to set the ego free in different artistic interpretations. Who am I? Why am I? How was I created? and how do I create myself?
The exhibition program EGO? has put brackets around dogmas, modesty and fear of contact, and made space for artists from Denmark and abroad to show, in their own way, cringing renditions, avant-garde educational travels, therapeutic self-confessions and bodily intimacy.
EGO? provide space for a varied exhibition program, with newly produced artworks, art historical classics and experimental projects by established and newly graduated Danish and international artists.
With a catalog of works, which in expression and form is ranging from installation and performance over video and slide projection to photography, painting and collage, you will meet artistic experiences that speak to all senses and all tastes.
Combined with an event calendar, offering communication at eye level, both children and young people, adults and elderly, art connoisseurs, novices, ego trippers and searching souls will find inspiration for playful exploration of the self.
