THE FOOL, A NOMADIC JOURNEY IN TAROT AND LIFE

The Danish Korean artist Trine Mee Sook Gleerup dresses during the summer as 22 characters from the Tarot cards called Major Arkana. From the traditions of Tarot cards and its narratives about how one becomes a whole person, the exhibition The Fool, a Nomadic Journey in Tarot and Life investigates the archetypical in the formation of identity, historical representation and cultural consciousness.

Through a series of performances Trine Mee Sook Gleerup dresses as the characters and let them function as agency and tools for an overall discussion about the colonial and racism that is a part of the western worldview.

In the exhibition period 22 photo-manipulated photographs are shown, each representing a tarot character, as well as designed costumes that becomes sculptural objects, Together the photographs and costumes create an installation and stage for the 22 performances.  With the understanding that the tarot archetypes are part of our personality, the photographs and costumes becomes traces and phases in the formation of identity
