The Freezing WINTER: Ego and Psyche
Narcissism permeates The Freezing WINTER. From unstable psyches to cool deliberation, the winter’s exhibition programme offers unique insights into artistic ways of discussing identity from the present and past. The winter’s two solo exhibitions speak of the concept of narcissism as a collective and societal phenomenon, and are supplemented with a video programme that refuses to keep its distance and shows examples of artistic self-absorption.

The Budding SPRING: Local Roots
The Budding SPRING presents the very latest contemporary art from near and far. The Aarhus Art Building offers soil and nutrients to the popular exhibitions KP, spring12 & SOLO12 and GRADUATION 12. As a new offshoot the programme presents an exhibition of the locally rooted society ProKK, which grapples with this year’s theme in curated form.

The Warm SUMMER: Myth and Body
A warm haze of sensory impressions, spirituality and physicality descends over the Aarhus Art Building in The Warm SUMMER. The heat has been turned up, and it presents a whole three solo exhibitions of striking female artists as well as a video programme offering glimpses of early performance art. Drama, powerful expression and spectacular installations get the juices flowing in the summer programme.

The Intimate AUTUMN: Behind the Facade
The borderline between public and private is the focal point for The Intimate AUTUMN. The programme goes behind the facade and explores personal expression in two solo exhibitions and one large curated exhibition of self-portraits. From sheer nosey-parkerism to dreaming self-contemplation, the exhibitions of the autumn dive down beneath the surface and explore how artists show themselves in their works.
